Baseball ERA Calculator

The baseball ERA calculator uses the standard 9-inning setting for baseball pitching lines.

9-inning setting

Baseball ERA is normally scaled to 9 frames. That means earned runs are multiplied by 9 before being divided by IP.

Scorebook notation

Baseball scorebooks use .1 for one out and .2 for two outs. Those values should be converted to thirds before the final result.

Example

A pitcher allows 2 earned runs over 6 frames and 1 out. The baseball ERA is 2 x 9 / 6.333 = 2.84.

Use the calculator

Open the ERA calculator and keep game length set to 9 for baseball.
